Blue economy

In 2012, Bangladesh secured 200 nautical miles of Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), and since then, the Government of Bangladesh has put tremendous importance on blue economy. In order to understand various aspects blue economy and its policy dimensions, the International Research Center is carrying out multiple research investigations. Through these studies, we intend to assist Bangladesh in maximizing its blue economy potential.

As a part of our commitment, the International Research Center sent 15 resource persons to Australia to participate in the Australia Awards Fellowship on Improving Blue Economy Research and Policy Bangladesh program. The Fellows gained useful and critical insights regarding blue economy at the University of Sunshine Coast, Australia. They plan on advancing the blue economy sector of Bangladesh through research and multifaceted initiatives. The International Research Center is going to organize an International Conference on Blue Economy in August 2024.
