The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) opened its 77th session on 26 April 2020 in Bangkok with a strong call for strengthening multilateralism, international development coordination, and collaboration with subregional organizations to build back beter from the COVID-19 pandemic. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina placed a four-point proposal while delivering her recorded statement. The four measures include: (a) The developed world, development partners and International Financial Institutes (IFIs) should come forward in attaining quick recovery from COVID pandemic, (b) Development approach should be more inclusive, resilient and environment friendly, (c) Asia-Pacific region should take efficient policies and strategies for a strengthened and universal public health system and (d) establish seamless connectivity in the areas of trade, transport, energy and ICT, science and technology.
