International Mother language Institution is a UNESCO Category 2 Institute running under the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Division of Ministry of Education. It established to conduct research for preserving and upholding the dignity of the developing and endangered languages of the world. The prime objectives and missions of IMLI are collection and preservation of languages of the ethnic groups of different nations and countries of the world. Its mission is also to conduct research and training programs to collect information of different language movements including Bangla, as well as conducting research on disseminating historical information concerning language movements among the member countries of UNESCO.
